Since a young age, I have always loved books and it was my dream to work in publishing. I studied English Literature at Queen Mary, University of London and graduated with first class honours. My first job was at a publishing house back in Peterborough where I served as the Editor for two of their trade magazines. However my passion still lay in books, so when the opportunity arose to join Spiderwize, I jumped at the chance and it really is a joy to spend my working days reading through manuscripts and helping people to realise their dreams of becoming published authors.
Secret Fact: I am currently working on my own novel - a story about the life of a female convict within a corrupt prison system.
Reading is part of my everyday life; from a book to wind down in the evening to a library trip and story time with my little boy, I love to read. I studied English Literature and Language at Nottingham University and was lucky enough to land a job straight out of university for an online company, writing and editing copy. I enjoyed both the creative process of writing as well as the satisfaction of getting the best out of a piece of work by providing editorial support. From there, I continued in the same field. The opportunity then arose to become an Editor and Proofreader for Spiderwize, which is a real pleasure. I love receiving a new book to read and then supporting authors through the editing process to help them get the best out of their work.
I now live in London and work remotely for Spiderwize. In my spare time you’ll find me on the netball courts, as I run a competitive netball team!
I was heading toward a creative career from an early age; I thoroughly enjoyed and excelled in Art and creative writing. With an enthusiastic tutor at school I quickly became interested in Graphic Design and did well in college. At university I took freelance work building my confidence and love for design in print. I continued my freelance work after university and was taken on by Spiderwize where I am now thrilled to be finally working in print! When I’m not taking photos of design I find out and about, you’ll find me submerged in the inspiring culture of London!
Secret Fact: I love designing and making my own outfits!
I have always worked in a customer focused role from a receptionist to a makeup artist. I believe in a great customer service and I love that I can provide assistance along the passionate journey of self publishing. In my spare time I love spending time with my son.
Secret Fact: I do enjoy losing myself in the latest box set and can get through an entire series in a weekend.
Passionate about drawing, books and all things creative, from an early age, I've always known I would end up in a creative role. I originally intended to be an illustrator, but in my teens discovered graphic design – which combined my love of the written word with that of layout and typography.
I began my professional career 15 years ago and since then, have worked in small design studios and large publishing houses alike, with clients ranging from professional individuals, to local businesses and government institutions. Now I work for Bonacia Ltd / Spiderwize, in a role that allows me to work on books and covers one day, and illustrate all sorts of wonderful characters and scenes the next. I am privileged to have worked on some incredible projects with some very talented people.
Secret Fact: There is usually a small, ginger cat asleep on top on my computer whilst I work.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked in publishing since leaving school, having spent my summers on work experience placements writing news and features for outdoor and adventure magazines. I love the fast-paced atmosphere of the publishing environment and working alongside such vibrant and creative people. I can also admit to getting a little overexcited when it comes to spelling and grammar, so the opportunity to work as a Publishing Assistant here at Spiderwize was not one I could let pass by. Since joining the team, I’ve had the chance to support authors through every step of the self-publishing journey, working with them to help create novels, poetry and non-fiction alike. I love that every day brings a new challenge.
Secret Fact: I’m a closet Disney fan. When I’m not in the office, you’ll find me sitting at my piano learning the soundtrack to Moana.
I enjoy storytelling in all forms, so reading and writing have always been big passions of mine. I graduated with a first class degree in Creative Writing and Media from York St John University, and it was there I discovered the joy of helping others to tell their own stories. I’ve worked in publishing since then, currently as the Editor of three national trade magazines. As part of the Spiderwize team, I’m lucky to get the chance to read lots of great books with diverse subjects, genres and authors while helping those authors to develop their work further.
Fun fact: I’m a trained professional wrestler.
