1. How long does the whole process take?
This can vary from author to author and depends and several factors during the process, each manuscript is important to us and we want authors to be 100% happy with the end result. All work is done on the manuscript/book as soon as it is received so an average time from manuscript to printed book is around 12 weeks.
2. Do I still own the copyright?
Yes, as your publishers we ask you to sign a publishing agreement, this gives us permission to publish and distribute your book on your behalf, but the authors always keep the copy right to the contents of the book.
3. Will you register my book with Nielsen's ?
Yes, once your book is complete we will have already assigned you an ISBN number and will then go onto add your books information to Neilson's. We are also by law required to send a copy to the British Library
for their records.
4. What if there are corrections to my proof copy?
We expect there to be corrections to your proof, either that are found by you or by our editors, we can go back and forwards as many times as necessary with email PDF proofs until everyone is happy the book is perfect.
5. When do I need to pay for my Publishing Package?
We offer a Free Evaluation on your manuscript first, if you would then like to go through and use Spiderwize to publish your book we require 50% of the total package price to begin work and the remaining 50% when you are happy with your proof and have signed it off to go to publication.
6. Will I be waiting long for the results of my Free Evaluation?
We aim to have your Free Evaluation back to you within 10 working days.
7. What file types do you accept manuscripts in?
We can accept your manuscript in all types of format however if your manuscript needs typing then please ensure you choose a package that includes this service. File types accepted, Google doc, Open Office, word file, if your manuscript is in another format please get in touch to discuss getting your manuscript over to us.
8. What paper weights do you use?
Black and White printing is done on 80gsm paper, colour printing including images is done on 100gsm paper, softback covers are 250gsm with a gloss finish.

10. Are there any ongoing fees?
If you would like Spiderwize to continue to distribute your book there is an annual fee of £24.00. For this service, you will be invoiced.
11. What are your opening hours?
Spiderwize are open Monday to Friday 9am – 4pm. If you have any queries outside of this time please drop us an email & we will get back to you ASAP.
12. How do Royalties work?
Royalties are paid every 6 months by cheque. Royalties owed are triggered when a book sale occurs, after printing costs, 50% is paid to us as your publishers and the remaining 50% is paid to you.
13. Where will the book be listed?
Lightning Source will make your titles available through Ingram Book Group, a leader in print and electronic wholesale and distribution serving over 39,000 retailers, libraries, schools, internet commerce companies and other channel partners including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Chapters/Indigo (Canada), and other well-known retailers and wholesalers of books.
14. Can I talk direct with your designers/editors?
Yes of course, we can arrange a direct phone meeting with the designer or editor working on your book.
15. Do you use a distribution agent?
Yes, we use a company called Lightning Source, who are a POD (print on demand) distribution agent, each time your book is ordered by a customer, the order will be sent through to Lightning Source, who will then print and despatch your book in 2 days. This means your book never goes out of stock, yet there is no need for a large stock amount of books to be printed and stored.
16. Will you do the marketing for my book?
In the Premium & Exclusive Packages we can offer you a marketing plan and advice along with printed marketing materials – however, we do not do the direct marketing for our published books this is something the author takes care of.
